Im telling you - Windows HDR output is BROKEN, it ALWAYS OUTPUTS AS LIMITED even if you video card says its full It is NOT FULL! If it looks better to your eyes is just because it increases contrast, but it won't be correct and you will miss on colors. Always use full on PC if the setting is available. Then you have to enable limited output range on TV\Display to make double limited expansion for such games. but some games does FULL HDR range some also may output LIMITED HDR, and this may end up DOUBLE LIMITED RANGE, to fight it you have to rise contrast by 9% and lower brightness by about same amount in FULL range, using LIMITED color range test pattern, to make FULL range with Contrast\Brightness match output you have in LIMITED (on TV, not on video card!), Basically you have to tweak B\C to make color range 0-16 to become pitch black and range 235-255 to become pure white. Its because as i discovered (and now rising awareness of this issue) windows outputs LIMITED HDR color range (where black is 64 and white is 940, instead of ), set tv or display setting to LIMITED range and colors will be correct for most of HDR output. Every time I exit a game that uses HDR, I immediately turn it off because Windows looks so bad with it on. HDR looks washed out and bad in Windows, and it's hit and miss in games too. There's no mess at all, just some devs not caring about it. HDR is amazing with good screens and HDR support has been absolute fine since Windows 11 has been introduced. That said, the rest of the information in this thread is fake news. Originally posted by CapitanPumbo:The lack of HDR is an absolute shame, I hope at least there's no banding.
